Cumulative Fire Maps
The time-series maps presented here represent cumulative areas burned by large fire events (Class E, 200 ha and and larger) starting with the 1931. Each 5 year interval thereafter includes the new fires overlain on pre-existing fires.
For earlier decades, it is likely that some fire events are missing from the map time-series. For example, a large 1950 fire event (the Chinchaga Fire) that occurred in northwest Alberta is not represented on this map series.
