Simulation Modes:

Choose between the Historic Growth and Future Growth tabs to enter that mode.

The default when the application starts is Historic Growth mode.


Historic Growth Mode:

Use the playback controls to run simulation.


Future Growth Mode:

Choose between Linear Growth and Exponential Growth Simulations by clicking the appropriate radio button.

Adjust Projected Area Growth Rate and Projected Population Growth Rate using the sliders.

Create Target growth areas and exclusion areas using the Growth Planning Tools.


Growth Planning Tools:

  • Click to create points and draw a shape (growth exclusion zone or target growth zone)
  • Complete a shape by having 3 or more points and then closing the shape by clicking on the first point again
  • CTRL-click points on existing shapes to delete points
  • CTRL-click between points on existing shapes to add new points to the shape
  • You can move a point of a shape you have already created by clicking and dragging the point
  • You can create multiple shapes on the same map but they can not overlap
  • click on the pencil tool again to finish the drawing and exit the Growth Planning Tools mode.
  • Run simulation using playback controls.

Simulation Playback Controls

Once parameters have been chosen and adjusted run the simulation by clicking the Play/Pause button in the simulation playback control area.

The simulation can be paused at any point by clicking Play/Pause again.

The simulation can be started from the beginning by clicking the rewind button.

You can also control playback and pause with the slider above the play/pause buttons, quickly moving to points in the simulation.

The speed of the simulation is controlled by the small slider beside the play/pause button.
